Dr Z Carmen Ghia Practice Amp Head

When the VW Karmann Ghia two door coupe debut in the early 1950’s it was an instant classic due to its economy, practicality and styling. Cleveland, Ohio based company Dr. Z’s Carmen Ghia amp head is based on the same philosophy that made the cute little passenger car a hit – simplicity with uncompromising style. With a modest 18 watts, this boutique amp head is celebrated for its elegant design, minimalism and musical warmth.

Powered by 2xEL84s, the 18 watt 5Y3 tube rectified Dr Z Carmen Ghia head offers just a single channel. Dr. Z’s (aka Mike Zaite) rational extends to the amps lone tone and volume control. Inspired by guitarists using a wah pedal set in a sweet spot to control the tone of their amp, the Carmen Ghia’s utilitarian approach fuses ease of use with big feel and tone. At the rear there is an output jack for a 4 and 8ohm extension cabinet.
